Magazine Front Cover Plan
Before starting to design my magazine front cover I have made a plan using an example to emulate. I have done this to ensure the layout of my cover is effective and I use the correct conventions and features for my magazine.
Completed Double Page Article
After drafting my double page article a couple of times I managed to create an effective layout, using a bold image and masthead. I used the bright green to stand out against the dark page and highlight the certain text. Due to my research I have been able to follow typical conventions for a double page spread, for example using pull quotes to excite the reader about the article, and a bold main image to pull the reader in.

Overview Of Photoshoot
During the photoshoot I used a tripod to ensure my photos were sharp and in focus. As well as this I used lighting to light the models against the background, making them stand out.
Edited Photo
After selecting a suitable photo from my shoot, I used photoshop to make changes and make the photo as effective as possible. By making the photo black and white I believe this adds an intensity to the photo, making it more dramatic and making the models/artists stand out against the dark background. As well as this I have used curves to add tone to the image, highlighting the faces and main model.
Photoshoot Contact Sheet
During the first photoshoot I considered many aspects for my photographs such as angles, poses and lighting. I worked with a couple of different poses to try and best present a popular band, and tried to make one individual the main focus, this being the lead singer.

Photography Examples
I have selected a variety of photography examples that are relevant to the type of magazine and article I plan to produce, all of these are bold images focused on the artist or band, some black and white adding a sense of intensity to the image and some in colour making them vibrant and stand out more.
Mood Board
I have chosen to produce a pop/punk music magazine, mainly targeting females aged between 15 and 25. Not only will the magazine feature new and upcoming music of this genre, but also relevant fashion and products for the selected audience.

Genre Research
When aiming to please a specific target audience through the genre of your magazine, it is important to follow this genre as accurately as possible. For example a rock music magazine will be designed and laid out much differently to that of a celeb gossip magazine. I have researched some pop punk products, such as magazine covers, album covers and photoshoots to compare the features used and include these ideas in my magazine.
After looking at some relevant examples of pop punk products in the media industry I can take some similarities from these examples to use in the production of my magazine. Some similarities include the stance of the models/artists, in each example they're represented as powerful and respectable. As well as this the lack of colour is repeated in each one, however some splashes of colour are used to make certain features stand out. By considering some of these ideas used I can make my magazine as professional, as possible as well as making it follow the conventions of its genre.
